These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the savd mobile application and the savd.app website (together, "savd" or the "Service"), operated by the savd team. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use savd.
savd has not launched yet. These Terms apply to the website today and will govern the app when it becomes available. We will update them (and the date above) as the product evolves.
1. Eligibility (17+)
You must be at least 17 years old to use savd. The Service addresses gambling recovery and connects to financial accounts, and it is not intended for children. By using savd you represent that you are 17 or older and legally able to enter into these Terms. If you are using savd in a place where a higher minimum age applies to services like this, that higher age applies to you.
2. What savd is — and is not
savd is a peer-accountability and goal-saving support tool. It helps you and friends you trust stay honest about gambling and put the money you keep toward things that matter. Please understand its limits:
- Not medical or therapeutic advice. savd is not a medical device, a diagnostic tool, therapy, counseling, or treatment for gambling disorder or any other condition, and nothing in the Service is medical advice. Gambling disorder is a recognized health condition — if you are struggling, please talk to a qualified professional. In the US, free and confidential help is available 24/7 by calling or texting 1-800-GAMBLER.
- Not financial advice. Savings estimates, goal projections, and similar figures in savd are informational illustrations, not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
- A support tool, not a treatment. savd can make quitting easier by adding visibility and support from friends. It does not and cannot guarantee that you or anyone in your circle will stop gambling, and it is not a substitute for professional care.
- Detection is not perfect. Gambling-transaction detection depends on how banks and merchants label transactions. savd may occasionally miss a gambling transaction or flag one incorrectly. The Service is a signal for honest conversation, not a source of infallible truth.
3. Bank connection authorization
- Connecting a bank account is optional. If you choose to connect one, you authorize savd to receive read-only transaction information about that account through our third-party bank connection providers, and you authorize those providers to access your account information on your behalf for that purpose.
- You may only connect accounts you own or are authorized to connect.
- savd's access is read-only. savd cannot and will not initiate payments, transfers, or any other movement of money from your accounts.
- You can disconnect a bank account at any time in the app, which ends further access.
- How we handle the data we receive is described in our Privacy Policy.
4. Your account
- Provide accurate information when you create your account, and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- By joining a circle, you consent to sharing your streak and relapse status with that circle's members, as described in the Privacy Policy. You can leave a circle at any time.
- Tell us promptly at hello@savd.app if you believe your account has been compromised.
5. Circle conduct
Circles work because they are safe. When you participate in a circle, you agree to:
- Keep it kind. Support, don't shame. Harassment, bullying, ridicule, or hostility toward a circle member — especially around a relapse — is not tolerated.
- Keep it private. What you learn about a circle member's recovery through savd is shared with you in confidence. Do not screenshot, repost, or share another member's streak or relapse information outside the circle.
- Keep it honest. Do not create fake accounts, manipulate streaks, or otherwise game the accountability features.
We may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these rules.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service. Among other things, you will not:
- Break the law or violate the rights of others through the Service;
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems, or attempt to access data that isn't yours;
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or copy the Service except as the law expressly permits;
- Use savd to advertise, promote, or facilitate gambling services of any kind;
- Upload malicious code or interfere with the operation of the Service.
7. Suspension and termination
- By you: You can stop using savd and delete your account at any time, in the app or by emailing hello@savd.app. Deletion is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
- By us: We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Where reasonable, we will give you notice and a chance to export or delete your data.
- Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and contact provisions) do survive.
8. Disclaimers
savd is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Without limiting that:
- We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that gambling-transaction detection will be complete or accurate;
- We do not warrant any particular recovery, savings, or other outcome from using savd;
- Savings figures shown in the app are estimates based on your past activity and are illustrative only.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law: savd and its team will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost savings, or lost data, arising out of or related to your use of the Service; and our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim arose or fifty US dollars (US $50).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limits, so parts of the two sections above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Governing law and disputes
If something goes wrong, talk to us first. You agree to contact us at hello@savd.app and give us a good-faith chance to resolve any dispute informally before pursuing formal proceedings; most issues can be fixed with a conversation.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the savd operating entity is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. savd is currently operated by the savd team; the legal entity behind the Service, and the specific governing jurisdiction and venue, will be identified in these Terms at launch. Nothing in this section deprives you of mandatory consumer protections you are entitled to under the laws of the place where you live.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as savd launches and evolves. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will give you clear advance notice in the app or by email. If you keep using savd after updated Terms take effect, that means you accept them; if you do not agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.
